Our mission is to be a safe, welcoming community where everyone feels valued and supported. We believe in the power of belonging, personal growth, and a genuine welcome to help people find their own way forward. Through free meals and meaningful connections, we aim to make everyone who walks through our doors feel at home.

Rough Edges is a welcoming community space in Darlinghurst, offering free meals and a safe place to relax for anyone who needs it. Founded by St John’s Anglican Church, Rough Edges began as a spot for connection and has grown to meet the changing needs of the neighbourhood. Today, with support from partners like Plate it Forward and Our Big Kitchen, we serve over 14,000 meals a year, helping people facing food insecurity and rising living costs. But beyond the meals, Rough Edges is about community—where everyone is valued, respected, and supported through life’s challenges.
