Citizens Advice North Hertfordshire (CANH) wants to improve the lives and wellbeing of people in our community who are or would be disadvantaged without our intervention or advocacy. We want to move people from reliant to self-reliant, from crisis to stability in their lives, from vulnerable to being secure, and from disengaged to engaged.

We are an independent charity, supported by grants and donations. We offer free, confidential, and impartial advice, signposting, and advocacy to people in North Hertfordshire — regardless of who they are or the challenges they face. Our work tackles issues such as financial exclusion, poverty, debt, health, disability, and navigating complex systems. We empower clients to understand their rights, receive fair treatment, and, where possible, build greater self-sufficiency.

Our team includes trained volunteers and specialist paid debt, benefits, and housing advisers who provide one-to-one support via telephone, email, and in-person at our offices in Letchworth and Royston, and outreach locations in Hitchin, Baldock and Melbourne.
