Are you interested in using sewing and crafting skills to bring stress-relief to those living with dementia, Alzheimer's, an acquired brain injury, or for those recovering from a stroke?
Research indicates that sensory blankets (also known as fidget blankets and fiddle blankets) can improve the wellbeing of people adjusting to a change in how their brain operates by providing something of interest to keep their hands busy.
This DIY volunteer opportunity encourages you to get out into community to find someone who would benefit from the gift, and to get creative with a variety of colours, textures, trinkets etc. to design and make a sensory blanket for someone in need.
Equipment and materials are not supplied.
Highly recommend supervision for under 18's.
